Interim workaround for login issues to game

Hi all, just follow this, it should help...


David and crew are aware of the problem, and are working on it. Server issue.

There is a work around to login, which is working for everyone. But if you break your pc, dont blame me.
I would make a backup of the Host file first.

Click Start -> Run and type notepad c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
Hit Enter and Notepad should open your hosts file.

Replace everything with the text below:

Save the file then run launcher. Should let you into game no problems. To return to original once they repair DNS just delete the last 2 line entries in hosts file by running the notepad c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

I am on Win7 64bit, this would not work until I rebooted pc.

Also the launcher takes a long time checking for updates, just be patient, it should allow you to login after it finishes.

Edit: Also, posted this here as a few folks can't login to forums.

Johnsilver said in-game that he ommited the " 127.0.0.1 localhost " line and it worked for him. He also said using that line "can" mess things up.

Try it if having issues with the workaround.

Also, if the notepad is saving as .txt follow these steps from Darkk:

In windows explorer, Click Tools > File Options.
Click View tab.
Uncheck "Hide Extensions for Known File types"

Find the host file.
Delete .txt from it.

If your host file lists much more than what it says above,
Rename host file to host.original

Create a new host file in notepad, and add all the above info.

Once they have all this sorted out, you will need to delete this new host file,
and rename host.original back to host

Dont blame me if you break something.

Just paste above address in server drop down box.
I didn't know the address til reading this post but we have had this happen before.
No need to change net-7 files.

Some systems may be different but try this first.
